I traced and cut out a T-shirt for myself out of a dark raspberry cotton knit from
fabric.com . I've never tried one of Connie Crawford's patterns but I think I've bought most of them. Being plus sized I'll buy most large size patterns. I've seen mixed reviews of her patterns but hope that it will work for me. I only made one change to the pattern and that was a high round back adjustment. I'm really just making a hopefully wearable muslin. I'm determined to start sewing for myself. I've spent most of my life making things for my kids and grandkids. Now I'm going to sew for myself and learn what adjustments to make as I go. I now already know to do a FBA, high round back and narrow the shoulders . I didn't narrow these because her patterns are suppose to be made for someone like me. With my very casual life I don't need any dress clothes so it use to be easier to just buy clothes. But as I've gotten older and obviously heavier I find it even harder to find clothes that fit.
I've been wanting to try that pattern, too. It's one of those I pull out and stare at... but never cut out.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see how you like it.
I love the color!!!!
Are you familiar with the discussions and problem solving in plus-size sewing at PR? There's a lot of really good information there.
ReplyDeleteI like your raspberry fabric. Good luck with the pattern!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling you're going to like this pattern. She drafts for more of a large pear, but the t-shirt will probably work for your apple.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of your fabric.
ReplyDeleteI bought Barbara Deckert's "Sewing for Plus Sizes" book and thought it was a very interesting book. It's a very easy read with lots of great information on fitting, adjusting patterns and design modifications.

Please post about your results. I've always been curious about the Connie Crawford patterns.
ReplyDeleteSherril's comment was interesting about CC designing for the large pear. I'd never heard that. I guess that is why her patterns don't work for me. My shape is more of an hourglass.
