Well it's starting to come together. You can see the kitties are giving me some unasked for or wanted help. I've got the entire bottom done- 32 pieces (including underlining and 5 pieces for lining, 6 pieces for waist and 12 pieces for top- grand total of 55 pieces. I thought it was only 50 but forgot the lining for the bottom. Megan is going to come in this weekend so will get to fit her and finish sooner than I thought. Thank goodness. I've got the bottom pressed and ready to fit. The waistband is pleated and pressed. The top is pressed and lined. Hope it fits. I did the full bust adjustment by putting up to another bodice I had adjusted for her for another dress. I'll let you know how it fits when she gets here. My oldest daughter, son in law, 2 cats and thier three kids will be coming in tommorow or saturday from Arkansas. Can't wait to see everybody and will enjoy the craziness, loudness and mess while everyone is here.
The dress is looking gorgeous! I have seen some of these wedding gowns with the colored sashes at the waist. I absolutely love that shot of color. Looking forward to seeing it on the bride!
ReplyDeleteNice blog and I like the colors you have chosen. They are easy on the eyes and I really appreciate that.
Miss Kitty approves.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful.
I can't wait to come home!
Pookie and Sarafina want to help you with the dress, too.
Looks gorgeous! I wish I could sew better. I'm good with yarn running through my fingers as I knit, just wish I could sew more than a plain blanket.
ReplyDeleteI like your helper there standing on the skirt. You can tell your daughter that the "something borrowed" is the cat hair woven into the fibers of her dress.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful so far - can't wait to see it on the bride.
Welcome to blogland! I'm so happy to see that you have taken the plunge and started your own blog. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to see your daughter in the finished creation! :)
This is looking great - thanks for coming over and visiting me....I'll keep track of you and if you have any problems - let me know....I love it that you're making your daughter's gown - what a wonderful gift you are giving her - in addition, she will have a gown that fits her.
ReplyDeleteMy best advice, is give yourself lots of time to do this - so you're not rushed. That way you won't panic and you can enjoy the process.
I know people think I need psychiatric help over this, but, I do love doing these dresses and I enjoy each one!
Welcome to blogland! There are 2 Gwens around--I am the other one. Come over to my blog and say hello sometime. Looking forward to seeing what you do.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is coming along very nicely, I hope it fits her well. That is whole lotta pieces too, wowzers!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and thanks for dropping by my blog. Loving the wedding dress so cute. Can't wait to see it when it is totally done. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, how exciting for you and your daughter.
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks beautiful. I could loan you a couple of my helpers. They are pure white and LOVE to sew! This is the only type of garment where their cat hair wouldn't be noticeable.
